Finally, after months of drawing, scanning and waiting, my first book of biro drawings is available for sale.Entitled NobbyNobody’s ANThology it features all of the the ANT drawings that can be seen in the
gallery over at biro-art plus a couple never seen before.

A Russian magazine called Khooligan which seems to be a ‘Lads mag’ along the same lines as GQ or Loaded has contacted me requesting material to do a feature on Biro-art for the September issue.
They supplied me with a PDF copy of the last issue and it certainly looks like the sort of dynamic, kinetic layout design that’s associated with mens’ ‘lifestyle’ magazines. Unfortunately though, it’s all in Russian so I can’t understand a word of it!
The Features Editor, Stanislav, requested that I answer some questions for the feature and provide some high resolution images. He’s most interested in the ANThology series, requesting seven biro drawings from it and asking all the questions around ants generally. How does one answer a question like “have you had personal relations with ants?”
I hope I’ve answered all his questions with wit and humour but it concerns me that any word-play will be lost in translation to Russian. Does the Russian for ‘sponge’ mean both ‘absorbant’ and ‘freeloader’ like it does in English?

I have to admit to feeling a little trepidation to providing high resolution images to a complete stranger over the internet, but I’ve checked it out as best as I can and it seems to be legitimate. I’m very protective over my drawings but sometimes it pays to take a risk. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Last week on the b3ta newsletter blog, Rob Manual, the Ginger Lord of b3ta teased the readers with the promise of a small, gay sausage called Henry.
Sadly Rob was just toying with us and Henry was nowhere to be found.
In an attempt to rectify this I drew Henry and emailed it to Rob.
Today I discovered that Rob included my biro-mash of Henry in this week’s news letter and suddenly hits to Biro-art have gone through the roof again!

I’ve been looking through my stats…
I’m very pleased to find that Biro-art is now the fourth search result on Google for ‘Lemon Party’.
Lemon Party is also my most searched for phrase followed closly by ‘Porn’ and then ‘Monkey Penguin Hybrid’

I can only assume that it’s my connection to net-savvy types from b3ta and similar online communities that makes Firefox by far the most common web browser used to view Biro-art.
The amount of Firefox visitors outnumbers all of the other browsers put together including all version of Microsoft Internet Explorer. Go Firefox!

Today I received an email from a Russian magazine called Khooligan which appears to be a mens’ “lifestyle magazine” similar to GQ here in Britain.
It seems that Khooligan have found Biro-art and like what I do and would like to do a feature on me and my work for inclusion in a future issue!
They’ve requested a selection of higher resolution images and would like to do an interview. I’m a little nervous of sending anyone high resolution images after my Heaven To Hell picture was stolen within hours of it appearing on the ‘net but Khooligan are a profesional setup so I’m sure I can trust them.
We’ll see what happens!
